26 May An Expert Optometrist
Hi, friends! Want to know a little bit more about why I am THE expert optometrist to see when you have questions about your vision and eyes, and are you curious about the education it took to get me there? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Read along for an exclusive look into my educational path and how I got to where I am today.
Well it all started after high school, when I earned my B.A. degree in Biology and English from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2003 (where I graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors). I then went on to receive my Doctorate in Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors in 2007.
While training at the prestigious Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center, I refined my skills in the medical treatment of glaucoma, specialty contact lens fittings, vision therapy, and prescribing eyeglasses for various visual needs. During my training, I also completed challenging rotations at the Veteran Affairs hospitals in Palo Alto and Livermore, CA. I furthered my expertise in ocular disease by interning at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
I also gained experience providing optometric vision care in the sub-specialty clinics of pediatrics and vision therapy by working as a Vision Therapist with one of the nation’s top specialists in the field during her time at Berkeley. I am a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and I continue to attend lectures and seminars to further her knowledge in vision therapy.
I began my optometric career as a board licensed Doctor of Optometry immediately after finishing my degree, working in Silicon Valley, CA, where I oversaw one of the busiest Orthokeratology/CRT practices in the nation. I treated hundreds of patients fitting Orthokeratology/CRT lenses and scleral contact lenses. There I also designed and implemented my company’s first vision therapy clinic. I was a managing partner in this group practice for almost a decade.
When it was time for a change, I relocated to sunny Southern California, where I opened my own clinic, Coachella Valley Optometry, in 2016. Now I am so excited to be in the Coachella Valley doing what I love most, and I’m sure you can tell I am dedicated to compassionate high quality vision care. I understand the importance of clear, comfortable vision and I strive to provide understandable explanations to patients to ensure the best care for their eyes.
From my extensive training and experience, I have developed a special interest in ocular disease management, vision therapy, and myopia control. As you can clearly see, I know my stuff inside and out, and I have the experience and credentials to prove it. Best of all, that means that I am better able to help you with anything you’d like to know about your eyes or vision, so feel free to ask me your questions! I’d be more than happy to help.
